Dieser lebendige Platz, der von Cafés, Bars und Restaurants umgeben ist, diente wahrscheinlich schon zu römischen Zeiten als Forum und ist auch heute noch ein wichtiger Platz in der Stadt. Jahrhundert errichteten Kirche Saint Jacques, die im 16. Jahrhundert wegen ihrer Nähe zur neu errichteten Zitadelle abgerissen wurde, verdankt der Platz seinen heutigen Namen. Zur Zeit der Weihnachtsmärkte ersetzen die Holzhütten die üblichen Terrassen des Platzes und der Duft von Glühwein* zieht durch die Luft.
*Der Missbrauch von Alkohol ist gesundheitsschädlich und sollte in Maßen genossen werden.
