Das Denkmal wurde am 20. Juni 2017 eingeweiht und zeigt das Bildnis des 1. Infanterieregiments. Es wurde anlässlich der 50-jährigen Präsenz der "Picardie" in ihrer Garnison in Sarrebourg geschaffen. Es wurde in der Rue de Lunéville aufgestellt und von dem Bildhauer und Künstler Eric Alvarez hergestellt. Sie wird durch das Regimentsabzeichen dargestellt, das von Schlüsselmotiven wie einem Militärfahrzeug oder auch bewaffneten Soldaten umgeben ist. Ziel dieser Skulptur ist es, die Saarbrücker Institution in der Stadt erstrahlen zu lassen und gleichzeitig weiterhin eine Verbindung zwischen der Armee und der Nation herzustellen.
