Inaugurado el 20 de junio de 2017, el monumento está en la efigie del 1er regimiento de infantería. Se creó para conmemorar el 50º aniversario de la presencia de la "Picardía" en su guarnición de Sarrebourg. Situada en la calle de Lunéville, fue realizada por el artista-escultor Eric Álvarez. Se representa con la insignia del regimiento rodeada de motivos clave, como un vehículo militar o soldados armados. El objetivo de esta escultura es hacer más visible la institución de Saarbrücken en la ciudad y, al mismo tiempo, crear un vínculo entre el ejército y la nación.
