Het monument, ingehuldigd op 20 juni 2017, staat in de beeltenis van het 1e regiment infanterie. Het werd gecreëerd ter gelegenheid van de 50e verjaardag van de aanwezigheid van "Picardie" in zijn garnizoen in Sarrebourg. Geplaatst in de rue de Lunéville, is het gemaakt door de kunstenaar-beeldhouwer Eric Alvarez. Het wordt voorgesteld door het regimentsinsigne met daaromheen belangrijke motieven, zoals een militair voertuig of gewapende soldaten. Het doel van deze sculptuur is de instelling in Saarbrücken zichtbaarder te maken in de stad en tegelijkertijd een verband te leggen tussen het leger en de natie.
