Das Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts auf Stelzen errichtete Offizierskasino gehört zu den Gebäuden, die für das militärische Leben notwendig waren. Es wurde der Garnison von den Unternehmen, die mit dem Bau der Forts, Festungen und Batterien in der Umgebung von Verdun beauftragt waren, zur Verfügung gestellt. Im Jahr 1890 war die Militärbevölkerung genauso groß wie die Zivilbevölkerung. Zahlreiche Kasernen prägen noch heute das Landschaftsbild von Verdun.
