Der Pass liegt auf dem Jakobsweg und gipfelt auf 1308 m Höhe oberhalb des Dorfes Lajo an der Grenze zwischen den Departements Haute Loire und Lozère.
Der "Col de l'homme mort", der auch "Col de l'Hospitalet" genannt wird, erinnert an ein Hospiz, von dem man weiß, dass es im 13. Dieses Hospiz existiert nicht mehr, aber der Brunnen Saint Roch, von dem man sagt, dass er ein Wunder bewirkt, hält die Erinnerung an ihn wach und ruft noch immer viel Verehrung hervor
Ein paar hundert Meter weiter in Richtung Lozère befindet sich die Kirche Saint-Roch.
