The pass is located on the Way of St. James and culminates at 1308m altitude on the heights of the village of Lajo on the border between the Haute Loire and Lozère.
The "col de l'homme mort" also called "col de l'Hospitalet" in memory of a hospice known to exist in the 13th century. This hospice no longer exists but the Saint Roch fountain, which is said to be miraculous, perpetuates its memory and still arouses much devotion
A few hundred meters in the direction of Lozère, you will find the church of Saint-Roch.
