El puerto está situado en el Camino de Santiago y culmina a 1308 m en las alturas del pueblo de Lajo, en la frontera entre el Alto Loira y la Lozère.
El "col de l'homme mort", también llamado "col de l'Hospitalet", en recuerdo de un hospicio conocido en el siglo XIII. Este hospicio ya no existe, pero la fuente de San Roque, de la que se dice que es milagrosa, perpetúa su memoria y sigue despertando mucha devoción
A unos cientos de metros, en dirección a Lozère, se encuentra la iglesia de Saint Roch.
