Lehen der Familie Vaudémont und der berüchtigten Henriette von Lothringen, genannt "Prinzessin Henriette". Diese kleine Stadt wurde vom Pfalzgrafen Georg Gustav gegründet. Früher war er ein Reichsfürstentum, in dem Münzen mit seinem Bildnis geprägt wurden. Aus dieser Zeit hat Lixheim ein reiches architektonisches Erbe bewahrt, das u. a. Folgendes umfasst: Der monumentale Brunnen aus dem Jahr 1627, das Münzhaus, die Kirche Saint Antoine. Außerdem gibt es zahlreiche Häuser mit schönen Erkern, die typisch für die osteuropäische Architektur sind.
