Fief van de familie Vaudémont en van de zwoele Henriette de Lorraine, bekend als "prinses Henriette". Deze kleine stad werd gesticht door de graaf Palatijn George Gustav. Het was ooit een vorstendom van het Rijk waar munten werden geslagen in zijn beeltenis. Lixheim heeft een rijk architecturaal erfgoed uit deze periode, waaronder De monumentale fontein uit 1627, de munt, de kerk van Sint Antonius. Evenals talrijke huizen met prachtige oriëntaties op de gevel, typisch voor de Oost-Europese architectuur.
