Der Wijde Aa nördlich von Zwolle ist ein Freizeitsee, der durch Sandabbau für den Bau des darunterliegenden Wohngebiets Aa-landen entstanden ist. Der Name stammt von dem Fluss Aa, von dem die Westerveldse Aa das einzige verbleibende Stück offenen Wassers ist. Ursprünglich war der See kleiner und wurde als De Kolk van Helderlicht bekannt, benannt nach dem gleichnamigen Bauernhof, der neben dem See steht (jetzt kreatives Zentrum Inside Out). Der Bauernhof Helderlicht wird bereits auf Karten aus Overijssel aus dem frühen 19. Jahrhundert erwähnt.
