Es liegt im Südwesten von Bolsward, im Nordwesten von Hieslum und im Nordosten von Workum. Der Dorfkern liegt östlich der N359, an beiden Seiten des Workumertrekvaats. Im Jahr 2021 hatte das Dorf 485 Einwohner. Zum Dorf gehört größtenteils die Siedlung Angterp. Zusammen mit Hieslum hat es einen gemeinsamen Dorfinteressenverein, der 1917 gegründet wurde, und sie werden auch als Zwillingsdorf bezeichnet.
