Das Gebäude an der Keizerstraat 12-16, erbaut 1896-1897 nach einem Entwurf des Architekten J. de Quack in Übergangsarchitektur mit Merkmalen der Neugotik und des Jugendstils, war eines der letztendlich mehr als 50 Ausgabestellen für Milch in Den Haag und Scheveningen.
Als die Zufuhr frischer Milch durch das Wachstum der Stadt problematisch wurde, gründete eine Gruppe engagierter Hagenaars 1879 die Molkerei "'s-Gravenhaagsche Melkinrichting De Sierkan". Von der Fabrik (später mehreren) wurde die Milch in von Pferden gezogenen Wagen mit Milchtanks zu einem stetig wachsenden Netzwerk von Ausgabestellen gebracht.
Die Sierkan bestand über ein Jahrhundert bis zur Übernahme durch die Genossenschaftliche Milchzentrale Melkunie im Jahr 1986.
