Die Pierre II (1992 in Betrieb genommen) ist eine durch Schrauben angetriebene Seilfähre, die entlang eines über das Wasser gespannten Stahlseils eine Verbindung zwischen zwei Ufern aufrechterhält. Das Kabel hat das Ziel, das Abdriften der Fähre zu verhindern. Die Pierre II ist als frei fahrende Fähre konzipiert und könnte sich daher auch ohne das Querseil sehr gut bewegen.
Die Pierre II ist eine „Hin- und Her“-Fähre. Das ist eine Fähre, die eine Verbindung zwischen zwei, gegenüberliegenden Orten an einem Gewässer aufrechterhält. Insbesondere eine Fähre, bei der „Vorderseite“ und „Rückseite“ gleich sind und bei der der Verkehr also an der einen Seite ein- und an der anderen Seite ausfährt.
