La Pierre II (messa in servizio nel 1992) è un traghetto a cavo trasversale azionato a vite che mantiene un collegamento tra due sponde lungo un cavo d'acciaio teso sopra l'acqua. Il cavo ha lo scopo di prevenire la deriva del traghetto. La Pierre II è stata costruita come un traghetto libero e può quindi spostarsi molto bene anche senza il cavo trasversale.
La Pierre II è un ‘andata e ritorno’. Si tratta di un traghetto che mantiene un collegamento tra due luoghi opposti lungo una via d'acqua. In particolare, è un traghetto in cui 'fronte' e 'retro' sono uguali e il traffico quindi sale da un lato e scende dall'altro.
