Die Mühle wurde 1898 im Auftrag einiger Bäcker und Landwirte in Peize erbaut. 1967 wurde die Mühle von der damaligen Gemeinde Peize gekauft. Eine Restaurierung folgte 1971 und '72. Dabei wurde die Holzverkleidung am Oberstück durch Schilfrohr ersetzt. Auch die Selbstschaltung verschwand und die Mühle erhielt Segel. Bei einer späteren Restaurierung kam die Selbstschaltung jedoch zurück. Die Flügel haben eine Spannweite von etwa 21,5 Metern. Die Mühle ist mit zwei Satz Mahlsteinen und einem Kammbewegungswerk ausgestattet. Derzeit wird die Mühle von einigen freiwilligen Müllerinnen und Müllern zweimal pro Woche in Betrieb genommen.
