Die Vrachelse Heide ist eines der wenigen Waldstücke nördlich von Breda. Das Gebiet gehört dem Verteidigungsministerium und wird noch immer, wenn auch in eingeschränktem Maße, von unserem Militär genutzt. Neben Spuren militärischer Nutzung sind auch kleine Flächen mit Sanddünen und Heide zu sehen. Der Boden ist sehr nährstoffarm, und deshalb ist der Naturwert nicht besonders hoch. Um die Sanddünen zu bändigen, wurden um 1900 viele Nadelbäume gepflanzt.
