Das Rathausgebäude stammt aus dem Jahr 1439 , nach einer Baukampagne im Jahr 1751 und weiteren Reformen und Umbauten erhielt es sein heutiges Aussehen.
In Anbetracht der historischen Chronologie von Ponte de Lima wird diese antike Stadt auch durch das ebenfalls sehr alte Gebäude Paços do Concelho identifiziert. Am Praça da República liegt die Hauptfassade des zweistöckigen rechteckigen Gebäudes nach Westen ausgerichtet. Alle vorhandenen Öffnungen sind rechteckig. Die Hauptfassade verfügt im Erdgeschoss über vier Fenster, im Obergeschoss über sechs Fenster. In der Mitte wird das Portal, das den Zugang zum Innenraum ermöglicht, von einem geschwungenen Giebel gekrönt. Der Zugang zum Portal erfolgt über eine große Doppeltreppe.
