The town hall building dates from 1439 , with a building campaign in 1751 and other renovations and reconstructions until its current appearance.
Considering the historical chronology of Ponte de Lima, this old town is also identified by the Paços do Concelho building , which is also very old. In Praça da República, the rectangular two-storey building has its main façade facing west. All the existing openings are rectangular. The main façade has four windows on the ground floor, while the upper floor has six windows. In the centre, the portal that leads to the interior is crowned by a curved pediment. Access to the portal is via a large double staircase.
