The Maria Luggau Monastery in Maria Luggau, located in the Lesachtal municipality, is situated north of the pilgrimage church of Maria Schnee.
In 1591, the Franciscans established a mission in Maria Luggau. The foundation stone for the monastery was laid in 1593. Already in 1628, the Franciscans were recalled from Maria Luggau. In 1635, the church, the monastery, and the parish were handed over to the Servites. A fire in 1640 destroyed the monastery, the church roof, and the top floor of the tower. Between 1640 and 1661, the monastery was rebuilt. Another fire destroyed an extension that had been started, the church roof, and the bell tower in 1738. The extensive renewal of the monastery was completed in 1741.
