The town hall of Graz houses the mayor and the municipal council of the Austrian municipality of Graz.
The first town hall of Graz was built in 1450, but soon became too small. A century later, in 1550, a larger town hall was constructed on the site where the current town hall also stands. Only the corners of this building were decorated, and it was built in Renaissance style. Among other things, the prison was located in the building. This building stood until the early 19th century, after which a new town hall in Classical style was erected, which was expanded a few more times at the end of the 19th century. For this, several buildings had to be purchased.
