Wald, a hamlet at the entrance of the Pitztal, is a locality of the municipality of Arzl in Pitztal in the district of Imst, Tyrol, Austria. It currently has 593 inhabitants and is situated at 890 m above sea level. Wald is located at the confluence of the Pitztal and the Inn Valley, at the foot of the Leiner Kögeles. Around the year 1000, the first farms in this area were established, known as "Schwaighöfe," which at that time had to pay dues to a count or the monastery in Stams. A small part of the village named Schwaighof still recalls this period today. In 1640, there were already 54 inhabited houses in Wald, and currently, there are about 150.
