The stop Wien Praterkai is located in the 2nd district of Vienna, Leopoldstadt. It is situated on the Laaer Ostbahn, directly at the southwestern end of the Stadlauer Bridge. Here, S-Bahn trains of line S80 stop every half hour. The stop Stadlauer Brücke – Lusthaus was opened in 1893. In 1994 and 1995, operations had to be temporarily suspended due to the construction of the Freudenau power plant and the resulting increased water level of the Danube, which necessitated raising the railway bridge including the stop by several meters. The newly built stop was named Wien Praterkai. Until 2008, tram line 21 coming from Schwedenplatz terminated north of the Praterkai stop, but with the opening of the U2 extension to the stadium, line 21 was discontinued and the tracks removed.
