In Ronquières you will find a big crowd puller. The eighth wonder of the world from 1968: the inclined plane of Ronquières.
Thanks to an ingenious construction, ships can bridge a height of 68 meters on the canal. They sail in large barges of 91 meters long, which are filled with water. These are pulled up over a distance of 1400 meters and then end up in another section of the canal, where they can continue their journey. At the top of the highest point is a 150m high tower, which houses the engine room. The tower can be visited and conjures up a sensational spectacle.
