The brewery is housed in buildings from 1878. At that time, there was the inn La Renaissance which was converted into a brewery by Evarist Clerinckx. Initially, beers like De Reus were only supplied in barrels, as far as horse and cart could travel in a day. In 1968, Jean Clerinckx, one of his descendants, laid down the brewing stick. However, in 1988 he restarted as a small, craft brewer and launched Bink, a dark blond high fermentation beer. Later, a similar brown beer followed. Bink is the nickname of the people from Tienen. In 1999, Marc Limet took over the stirring stick and launched two new seasonal beers in 2000. Bloesem Bink is brewed in spring and summer and contains, in addition to the classic ingredients, honey from Sint-Truiden and pear syrup from Vrolingen. Winterkoninkske is a dark beer intended for winter. The most recent beer is called Adelardus (blond or brown), named after one of the most important abbots of Sint-Truiden. The Bink festivals take place during the third weekend of August with a themed beer each time. The brewery is open every day (except Tuesday) from April to the end of October from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Every Saturday at 4:00 PM there is a guided tour. From the end of October to the end of March, the brewery is open on Thursdays, weekends, and holidays from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM. More info: www.brouwerijkerkom.be.
