The boldest thing Horta ever did. The facade is not what you think. It is not a wall that supports the weight of the construction, but a hanging curtain wall. For the bay window, Horta used industrial materials, such as visible metal beams with rivets. Inside, he worked with a split-level. Just after the entrance hall, Horta created a winter garden, around which he built his entire plan. The garden is crowned with a dome made of colored stained glass and is currently being restored. Client Edmond van Eetvelde, a diplomat in Congo, could obtain the most exquisite types of wood for the furnishing of his residence in the colony.
