The geographical centre of Belgium is located in Nil-Saint-Vincent, a parish in the municipality of Walhain, in the province of Walloon Brabant. In 1989, the National Geographic Institute recalculated the geographical centre of Belgium. It was first granted to the municipality of Itter, but did not take into account the addition of the East Cantons after the Treaty of Versailles in 1919. A small monument, inaugurated on August 22, 1998, mentions the historical background (in Dutch, French and German) and indicates the exact location: 50° 38' 28" N, 04° 40' 05" E
