Mariembourg is a town of Wallonia and a district of the municipality of Couvin, located in the province of Namur, Belgium. The town is named after Mary of Hungary, governor of what was then the Habsburg Netherlands, who ordered the construction of a fortress town there in 1542. The fortifications were demolished in 1853, but the former arsenal remains. By 1554, it was conquered by French troops, and has throughout the centuries frequently switched hands. The town has a church , a Neo-Gothic former town hall and is served by a railway station.
