On September 30, 1937, Maxime Brunfaut's Joseph Lemaire Sanatorium was opened to international attention. The modernist building served as a sanatorium for tuberculosis patients and later as a nursing home. When the sanatorium was closed 50 years later, in 1987, it faced an uncertain future. After 20 years of vacancy, only a shadow of the glory in which the building was opened 70 years earlier remained. On the occasion of these 'anniversaries', the RedHetSanatorium campaign was started.
