The beer is brewed in Kasteelbrouwerij De Dool, in Helchteren. This beer has been labelled a Belgian Abbey beer since 2008. On the labels is the castle Den Dool.
In 1994, the first beer Ter Dolen Blond was brewed at this brewery, the very first abbey beer in Limburg. Ter Dolen Donker followed in 1997 and Ter Dolen Tripel two years later. Finally, ter Dolen Kriek came on the market in 2003.
