Mustard Museum

Once there was a time when every family made its own mustard. Today, the mustard factory of the Wostyn family is still the only one in the region and Mostaerd Wostyn is Torhout's oldest and most famous local product. Since 2004, there has been a museum dedicated to this noble and spicy condiment.

The mustard museum outlines the evolution "from a seed so small to mustard so fine." You will find many surprising curiosities from both domestic and foreign mustard makers. The centerpiece of the collection is undoubtedly the mustard mill.

Meanwhile, Mostaerd Wostyn is also making waves in molecular cuisine due to its pure and fine texture. It forms an important ingredient in certain dishes from the world-famous restaurant El Bulli in Catalonia (Spain).
