The current church dates from 1764. The previous church was destroyed by fire on Christmas Day 1763. The patron saint of Ledegem is Saint Peter in the Bands. This is worshipped for what is popularly called "the Catherine Wheel". The church has a beautiful pulpit and four beautiful confessionals, as well as some valuable paintings. "The Resurrection of Lazarus" by Joseph Ducq (Ledegem 1762 - Bruges 1829) dates from 1800 and is a copy of a painting from the 17th century. Joseph Ducq is without a doubt the most famous painter from Ledegem. St. Peter's Church was protected as a monument on July 23, 1993.
