This block contains 30 apartments and is named after the open-air swimming pool (see photo from the old days) that was located here until 1986, the so-called 'Lac Aux Dames'.
In 1935, the seawater swimming pool was built, the first of its kind on the coast, under the impetus of the then-swimming champion Martial van Schelle. During World War II, this sportsman and businessman was executed in the Fort of Breendonk.
The swimming pool and restaurant complex was severely damaged during this war and in 1986 it was decided to completely demolish it. The apartments with the same name remained... They are a design by architect Maurice De Nève from 1953.
