Description

In the past, these areas were located within a huge Scheldt meander, which was cut off about 15,000 years ago. The Berlarebroek was created by a landfall process, the cutting of peat created the 86 ha large Donkmeer. The Nieuwdonk recreation area was created around a more recent sand extraction pit. On and around the Donkmeer there is certainly a pleasant bustle on summer days. You can go boating on the lake, swim (in Nieuwdonk) or visit the animal park. The lake is also known for its numerous excellent eel restaurants. Tasty!
