The sources of the stream are located slightly north of the village center of Retinne. Two sources are clearly visible. One source is near a chapel dedicated to Saint Juliana in the Voie des Messe. The name of the river Julienne refers to Saint Juliana of Cornillon, born in Retinne in 1192. Another source is located in the Rue Fernand Chèvremont. These are two artesian springs where the water rises vertically.
