The St. Aldegondis Church is the former parish church of As. It is located on the Kerkpad. The church and the surrounding, walled cemetery are a protected monument.
Presumably there was an 8th-century wooden church on the site of the current St. Aldegondis church. In 1973-1974, prior to the restoration of the current church, excavations were carried out which showed that the Gothic St. Aldegondis church had a Romanesque predecessor: a rectangular hall church of 7 by 13 meters, built with Maas boulders.
