The cave in Citadel Park has been and is used by many lovebirds. This was even recorded in the book The Front Paradise by Heinrich Wandt from 1922, which describes the war years in Ghent. At that time, Pastor Sturm, Catholic advisor to the stage inspection in Ghent, was also caught here. Pastor Sturm was known as an accuser of the decline of moral feeling. However, this did not prevent him from engaging in love in the cave of Citadel Park with a local prostitute on the holy Christmas night of 1915. However, a German landstorm man, who was supposed to protect the gasoline supplies in the cave, caught the couple.
