In many places this would be an ordinary stretch of badly made road. But here it is a veritable layered piece of heritage that tries to "porphyry" itself upwards again. The cobblestones of the Chaussée de la Genette were irreverently doused here and tucked away with asphalt. But heritage creeps where it can't go. Here, the porphyry cassies that were collected from the nearby quarry in the last century come peeping through the asphalt again.
