The Friars Minor Monastery is a monastery in Rekem, more specifically in the historic core of Oud-Rekem, which existed from 1707-1797 and from 1847-2004. It is located on Sint Pieter.In 1675, Count Maximilian Frans Gobert D'Aspremont-Lynden, also called Frans Gobert, lord of the free lordship of Rekem, made a first attempt to attract the Friars Minor. Because the negotiations with the Friars Minor did not go smoothly, he turned to the Carmelite order. He settled in Rekem in 1679.
