In the northernmost corner of our municipality, near the Dutch border, lies the wooded Postel with its imposing abbey that was founded in the twelfth century. It is the Norbertines who have been mining the region since that time and have held hospitality in high regard.
Because of their white pij they are called 'withers'. They do forestry, agriculture and animal husbandry. To support themselves, they brewed beer and made cheese. In the meantime, this has grown into a true, artisanal industry. One that the tourists are only too happy to come to. No matter how busy it may be, once inside the abbey walls you will find a curious calm.
