Brewery Boelens

At Brouwerij Boelens, numerous beers are brewed. One of them is the Prins van Hornse, which has its origins in Overijse. The beer is an initiative of the beer association Vryheytscamme from Overijse, which aims to revive the beer tradition of Overijse. After several trial brews, the beer association was ready with its first own recipe in 2014. It was so well received that it was decided to brew this beer on a larger scale (400 liters) at Brouwerij Boelens from Belsele: the Prins van Horne was born! The first batch of Prins van Horne was brewed on June 18, 2014, according to its own recipe based on three types of malt, selected hops, and abbey yeast. It is an amber-colored beer of high fermentation with bottle conditioning and an alcohol content of 7.9%. At the market day of the Druivenfeesten in Overijse (August 2014) and the year market of Hoeilaart, the general public could first get acquainted with and taste the beer. The Prins was so popular among beer lovers, family members, and friends that the stock was completely sold out after just a few weeks.
