At the Weyerman, Limburgs Landschap vzw had shallow puddles excavated with sloping banks. Immediately after construction, the tree frog appeared. This is a small and rare frog species that clambers between the vegetation with the help of suction cups on the toes. Because Limburgs Landschap vzw manages the ponds and the adjacent moist grasslands, the management was fully focused on this frog. The sun-rich puddles can dry up from August so that the hostile fish populations cannot develop. The surrounding grasslands are extensively grazed by horses so that a structure-rich forest edge with blackberries remains. That is a favorite plant for tree frogs: as a shelter, but they also feast on the insects that come to the flowers and berries.
