On the other side of the Lerebeek lies 'De Petitsen', a misspelling of 'Les Petites', small plots. It is here, in the hamlet of Eggertingen, that Limburgs Landschap acquired its first plots in 2004. The nature reserve expanded further but did not yet have a specific, comprehensive name. And one was just not found... hence it remained Eggertingen!
Here, the small thistle also grows. This rather rare plant indicates that there is lime in the soil. Through several years of strip mowing management, the plant has spread and now even occurs in wetter places in the valley.
