Description

The grounds of the former British base, referring to the British presence between 1951 and 1992, are characterized by a complex of extensive deciduous and coniferous forests, interspersed with a number of open grasslands, heathland, marshes and shrubs. The small areas of heathland form remnants of an originally extensive heathland in Grobbendonk and Herentals. In the area there are some important historical relics, such as the relics of the priory of Our Lady of the Throne, founded in 1414.
