Are you a fan of architecture? Then the district house of Deurne is a must-see. This modernist realization from 1964 was designed by Eduard Van Steenbergen, the architect of the Unitas Garden Neighborhood and the Royal Athenaeum. After his death, his son Edward took over the finishing touches. The building combines an administrative and a representative wing around a central tower of 39 meters. The interior from the sixties is well preserved. In front of the building stands the artwork ‘Upwards’ by Jozef Kets, symbolizing the growth and ambition of Deurne. Fun fact: the first stone contains a time capsule from 1964, with a book and coins.
