Café known as "'t Veerhuis". Former inn and ferry house, residence of the ferryman of “Appels Veer” located next to the Schelde ferry and with its back against the Scheldedijk. In the "Ommelooper ende Terrier ofte Land en caerteboek der Prochie van Berlaere" from 1773-1786 indicated as the farm of Leonardus De Graeve at the "kele" or the creek of Appels Veer, diagonally across from the inn called St. Marten, also then property of Leonardus De Graeve. According to land registry data, adjusted at the beginning of the 20th century and then also raised with an additional floor (see old postcards). Currently belonging to Tavern "De Waterhoek" (number 23).
