The chapel of Saint Lucia of Oosterlo probably originated as a castle chapel at the court of the Berthouts. In 1270, Henry II Berthout van Oosterlo and his wife Aleidis founded a chapel there, which was later transferred to St. Dymphna's Church. From 1536 to 1872 Oosterlo belonged to the parish of Zammel.
