The Royal Golf du Sart-Tilman is a golf course located in the hills of Liège which was designed in 1939 by Tom Simpson. Off all the Belgian golf courses that he designed, this is the one he was most proud of. This Liège golf course is a wonder to behold. It is all the more remarkable for the fact that the famous British architect, who was also the creator of the courses in Spa, Ravenstein, Mons and Anvers, was up against a hostile environment and a limited budget when he put the course together. At the cost of the deforestation of almost twenty hectares of trees, the removal of forty thousand tree stumps and the addition of five thousand cubic metres of soil, the challenge was nonetheless met.
