One of the most famous residents of Neerpelt is undoubtedly army chaplain Sooi Willems (1910-1990). He traveled all over Flanders to give soldiers a boost. Everywhere, he was a welcome guest with a captivating speaking style. Neerpelt honors him with a bust in Sooi Willems Square. On the same square stands the peace monument "Take care of your dreams." Those dreams are represented by colorful clouds that point to the multicultural nature of our society.
