The 280-hectare Maaswinkel nature reserve encompasses the area between the Maas, the Zuid-Willemsvaart and the E314. In the centre is a landscape and ecologically valuable zone with meadows, hay meadows, hedges, fields and bushes. The landscape of the floodplains is biologically important due to the varied plant and animal world. Plants with a preference for water will get their money's worth here. Regularly flooding the floodplains with Meuse water ensures that the soil is rich in nutrients.
